Maharaja Musicals Super Premium Shruti Box, Pinewood, Espresso, Medium (No. M1-C)

Our Super Premium box, and the only one we build in pine. Pine of this grade is hard to source and hard to work, which is why this is the most expensive shruti box we make and why we build it in small numbers. What you get for it is the same thirteen notes and the same bellows as our teak boxes in a lighter instrument with a deep espresso finish.

How to play

1. Release both the front and back bellows
2. Turn the covers sideways to select a single drone or combine several
3. Pump the top bellow continuously with one hand

The sustain is the point of this box: the drone stays consistent and sonorous even when the bellow strokes are irregular, and it keeps sounding for a while after you stop pumping. Volume follows pumping speed.

This box is sold tuned C3 to C4. A#2 to A#3 and G2 to G3 can be ordered instead, so tell us which you need when you order.

Made by us, in our own workshop near Delhi.

Open the packing as soon as it arrives so the instrument can air and settle into tune. Keep it away from direct heat and damp.
