We would especially like to mention about the long sustain provided by this Shruti Box. The sound of this Shruti Box will be very consistent and sonorous even when the bellow movements are not very regular and it will keep producing a consistent warm sound for quite some time even after the bellow movement has stopped.

The Shruti Box is very easy to play. All you have to do is:

a) release the both - front and back - bellows

b) turn the white covers sideways, to play single drone or by combining many

c) continuously pump the bellow which is opening out from top with a single hand

Thats it! If you follow the above steps, you Shruti Box will startresonating with warm notes selected by you. Volume can be controlled by the pumping speed.

This Shruti Box is sold with C3 to C4 tuning. However, you can also order a Shruti Box from A#2 to A#3 or a Shruti Box from G2 to G3. The chromatic scale is based on A440 concert pitch. The Shruti Box comes with a snug-fit laptop style shoulder bag.

NOTE: It is advised to please open the packing of the instrument so that it gets aired and it stays in tune. Also, it is recommended to keep it away from extreme hot or damp area.

If you’re after a super polished shruti box, or sales experience, this may not be the box for you. However, if you want something that makes your heart/ soul sing, it's definitely something to consider. To be honest my shruti box: - did take weeks of back and forth messaging to get any confirmation of order/ shipping - didn’t match the colour in the photo (green not purple liner) - wasn’t terribly well finished; it arrived with a number small dints and scratches that I'd say occurred during production ( it was very well packaged for shipping though) - has a slight raspy sound in its lowest note - and I'm not convinced it matches the standard western layout for the key it’s tuned, a Low G, (although I've assured by the seller that its completely normal) Yet I simply ADORE it. As soon as I squeeze it a warm sound, like molten chocolate just oozes out of it. It so soothing. I just want to spend hours creating gorgeous chords and tones playing it. I am beginning to think it has soul of its own! All those quirky qualities make it just wonderful the way it is, bringing a unique feeling of authenticity to it. It definitely doesn't feel mass produced. And it's small size is just gorgeous, making it oh, so portable. I carry mine around and pop it on my lap and play it everywhere, indoors, as well as out in the garden.. Some may comment that a larger size Shruti Box may create a continuous drone more readily for the uninitiated. Yet with practice and learning to work with its natural rhythm, allowing it breath in its own time, it produces a beautiful drone. And it has turned out to be just what I was looking for meditation, vocal toning, humming work and singing, both in a solitary or group setting. I did a search for a chart of common piano chords as a springboard and given that its tuning is really quite good, they sound just gorgeous. So I give it 5 stars for all the things it is, rather than all the things it's not.
