Tanpura is a string instrument that provides a drone. And this drone acts as a reference point. The tanpura is often mistake for sitar. The main difference is that sitar contains frets and Tanpura doesn’t. The Tanpura is known for the rich sound it produces. There are three main styles of Tanpura; the Miraj style, the Tanjore style and the small instrumental version called Tamburi which is used as an accompanying instrument with Sitar and Sarod.
As far as tuning the Tanpura is concerned it is tuned according to pitch. Female pitch, male pitch and if the Tanpura is going to be played as an accompanying instrument then it is tuned accordingly. When you place an order with us you have to ensure that you send us a briefing.

We also pack the instruments with great care so that they arrive in perfect condition. However, in a rare case, if you receive a damaged or defective item we will collect and replace it at our cost.

Please inform us within two days of the receipt of a defective item by sending an email to help@tablasitar.com along with the details of the defects and photographs. We will also ask to file a report with the courier company so that we can claim insurance.
