About Naal

Naal is an Indian musical instrument in the drum category that enjoys much popularity in north and south alike. It is also played in Tamashas (local road shows) across Maharashtra. It is a two headed drum like most others. Heads of Naal are tuned by bolts. Naal the larger bass-skin is played with the left hand, the treble skin by the right hand. The treble skin is fitted with three concentric rings of dense black hardened paste. This process helps naal to create a sound resonance with harmonics.
When we ship the naal to our buyers we make sure that the heads are kept in place by metal hooks that have nuts at the bottom that can be later on tightened or loosened to adjust the pitch of the head. This makes changing the heads very quick. We advise caution to players while they tune it as it is very easy to tighten the nuts in excess that can result in head breakage. We also tune the naals based on instructions received from buyers.

However, in a rare case, if you receive a damaged or defective item we will collect and replace it at our cost.

Please inform us within two days of the receipt of a defective item by sending an email to help@tablasitar.com along with the details of the defects and photographs. We will also ask to file a report with the courier company so that we can claim insurance.
