About Rebab

Rabab is an Afghani string instrument, popular in north Indian music too. It is one of the oldest bowed musical instruments, and uses animal skin in upper and lower part and wood in the rest. Shapes may vary.
Rabab is played as a solo instrument as well as accompanies singing long epic poems. The player sits cross-legged, and places the Rabab on his right knee obliquely across his body. The peg box rests against the player’s left shoulder. By placing his thumb underneath the strands he uses the pressure to control the tension of the bow. It is said that an expert can reproduce human voice with Rabab. Besides that Rabab can produce easily recognizable rich thick sounds - a combination of high and low tones.

We also pack the instruments with great care so that they arrive in perfect condition. However, in a rare case, if you receive a damaged or defective item we will collect and replace it at our cost.

Please inform us within two days of the receipt of a defective item by sending an email to help@tablasitar.com along with the details of the defects and photographs. We will also ask to file a report with the courier company so that we can claim insurance.
